At the Editor's Lab Hackathon hosted by the Global Editor's Network in Vienna, WTD News joined the ranks of BBC, Buzzfeed News, National Geographic, etc. as 1 of the 16 newsrooms hacking to make "complex news stories simple". With important news like Brexit or the Syrian War unfolding over months at a stretch, WTD News created 'Press.ed For Time', an algorithm that chronicles and summarises key events along a simple timeline.

WTD News won both 1st Place and Public's Choice place at the Global Editors Network (GEN) '2017 Mumbai Editor's Lab Hackathon' organised at The Indian Express. The theme was to build a tool that would evaluate and analyse gender inequalities, creating more awareness on the issue. WTD News created 'MissManage' - a financial learning tool and tracker, that helps women become financially literate and empowered.
