Ever since Reliance Jio entered India’s telecom business, all its competitors, Vodafone, Airtel, Idea, etc. have done everything they can to try and catch up to its offers or free calls and data and they still are.
But by outbidding all their opponents in the 2010 Department of Telecommunications 4G Spectrum through a company called Infotel and by introducing a new technology called LTE, they’ve outsmarted the Government (and their auditor) and the telecom sector, making tons of money in the process.
That’s exactly how they can afford to give their over 100 million subscribers so much free data. Of course, there are no free lunches in this world. Reliance Jio’s free data comes with an added risk of data leak and privacy breach. And in fact, that risk has already been realised and here’s why you should be panicking about it.
